Artist's Comments

Went shooting last week, and I just had to do this. I realized that I haven't drawn a picture of my online avatar shooting yet, so this was necessary. I usually shoot in a far more bladed stance than this, but I was going to the look of the drawing over actual technicalities. Main inspiration drawn from the last part of the practice, when my friend and I decided it was time to try doing less serious shooting, such as one-handed and trying to hit the little target diagram in the corner of the actual target.

This is mixed media, all traditional. The main figure as drawn onto bristol, inked with Microns, colored with Prismacolor pencils, then cut out with an X-acto. The targets were drawn onto yellow parchment and inked with Microns. The 'bullet holes' were done with my compass point. The border is blue parchment. The entire mess was glued onto a new piece of bristol.

Daily DeviationThe Firing Line caught my eye because the artist took an avian character and kept the wings on the arms in anthropomorphic form. This is challenge, because winged arms limit the mobility of a character and what poses they can strike. However, steeljaw did a wonderful job making a believable and agile character. You made me blink there for a second. I had to scroll down so that I saw the joking part! :>

Nothing wrong with collecting blades- I love knives. The guns I have, though, are an H&K P2000 .40 cal (which is the pistol I drew in this pic) and a Remington 1100 20-gauge shotgun. I'm hoping to get an AK-47 here sometime soon, but school comes first when it comes to finances. ;>

Over all it looks really good, however there's something wrong with the hands. I just can't seem to place what it is, though.

I love the color and the shooting targets in the background.

Really? If you place it, let me know what it is. The hands hadn't bothered me at all about the image, and I can't find a problem. Hrm...

I just don't know. I really can't put my finger on it.

Oh oh I´m also shooting!

Well was for three years and stopped last year...maybe I will do it again XD

It might be a bit of an awkward stance but it does look cool and stuff.

Oh and

HK FTW!!

Yeah, the stance isn't anywhere near how I normally shoot. I've shot like that before, but not with a whole lot of success. I was looking more for balance of the piece than absolute accuracy. ;>

Hey, I love to shoot as well!

I've been shooting for three years now in NJROTC. We shoot Olympic Air Rifles. I have two rifles. A Avanti Model 753 Elite (But it has a CO2 cylinder. No underlaying air compressor) and a Avanti Model 853 Legend.
